Coolum Beach (Jones Parade) Community Kindergarten
A Fun & Nurturing Start to Your Child's Learning Journey
WELCOME TO COOLUM BEACH COMMUNITY KINDERGARTEN!

Some days it might look like a space shuttle launch pad, others a dinosaur dig site or an underwater sea kingdom, but every day Coolum Beach Community Kindergarten is a warm, home-like place where children are discovering the delight of learning and preparing for a successful transition to school. With an exploration- and play-based educational approach and a caring and nurturing atmosphere, “Jones Parade Kindy” – as it is known by generations of Coolum-ites – has been a much-loved part of the community for 40 years - this year. Since the gates first opened in 1982, there have been only a handful of staff – testament to the passion of the people who have built our kindy into the child-centred community hub it is today.
Coolum Beach Community Kindergarten was recently rated as “exceeding” the National Quality Standard by the Queensland Government.

Our kindy service is a not-for-profit organisation that is owned and run by a volunteer parent committee elected at the AGM in February each year. We are affiliated with Gowrie QLD and follow their policies and guidelines. We are an Approved Kindergarten Program Provider under the Queensland Government Kindergarten Funding Scheme.

SMALL & STABLE CLASS GROUPS

There are only 25 children in the centre at one time, and all of the children are in their pre-prep year.
Your child will belong to either the Possum group (Mondays, Tuesdays and alternate Wednesdays) or the Koala group (Thursdays, Fridays and alternate Wednesdays). Our day starts at 8:30am and finishes at 2:30pm, following school terms and holidays. Our program offers your child the stability that comes from being part of a class group with the same friends and teachers every day of their kindy year.
EXPERIENCED & PASSIONATE TEACHERS

Our Director, Lyndal Fletcher, has a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) as well as 25 years of experience in Early Childhood teaching. She and our Early Childhood Educators Wendy Owen and Kate Powell are passionate about early childhood and the community-based kindergarten model.
A COMMUNITY KINDERGARTEN
We encourage parents and families to become actively involved in this centre by sharing and contributing their skills, donations of time, relevant equipment and resources; by attending working bees and by organising and/or helping out at fundraising and social events in order to keep our kindy fees to a minimum. Your involvement will enrich both you and your child’s learning experiences and will promote positive self-esteem. Along with family interactions, we also welcome community helpers and organisations into our educational program.
A NATURAL AND INSPIRING LOCATION

Located in central Coolum, our centre is tucked next to the Cassia Wildlife Corridor, and offers an inspiring, natural learning environment for young children.
